Our children will be our leaders of tomorrow.

This was highlighted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in his Palm Sunday message.

“As our children wave palm branches to help them connect to the story, today also reminds us that it is Jesus’ first step towards his death and marks the start of Holy Week,” he said.

“To those who may wonder why Christian children wave the palm frond or branch on Palm Sunday, the palm is a symbol of victory, triumph, peace, and eternal life originating in the ancient Near East and Mediterranean world.

“Today, I want to particularly thank the women and men who have sacrificed their personal time over the past weeks to help our children prepare their Bible verse and hymns.”

He also extended well wishes to Hindu devotees who celebrated Ram Naumi this week and Muslim brothers and sisters observing the holy month of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar.
