NEWLY-elected prefects of Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) in Tailevu have been urged to be agents of change and to lead by example.
“You are the leaders your school has been waiting for, I am sure you will all rise up and be great leaders,” Education Minister Rosy Akbar told the students.
“Learn from experiences and make decisions based on that.”
Ms Akbar also reminded the students to dream big and to try to achieve success with discipline.
“You need to have a vision and I hope that you all know where you want to be in the next 10 years.
“You are the greatest asset that our country has, young people are the greatest asset and resources in any country.
“Take your school to another level.”
She said the badge was an indication of the trust the school teachers had for their students.
“Nothing comes easy, you should have a vision to achieve something.”
Ms Akbar also urged the school’s administration to ensure that the academic performance of students was a priority for them.
“To the teachers, take ownership of the school.
“Be the leader that can provide a solution, you are still special and you have a lot of potentials, so don’t give up.
“If I may challenge the current administration, you can do much better this year, you must have another year to celebrate.”
She said students’ results in mathematics were not very impressive last year.
