Lawyer looking forward to event

Prominent Suva lawyer Richard Naidu is looking forward to taking part in his second Namosi Marathon event this Saturday. Naidu was part of the same event in 2020 and said it was a tough experience but one he would love to experience again.
“Very different from my normal runs on the Suva sea wall. The scenery is spectacular and the people of Namosi gave us great support, even though they must have thought we were all mad. Even one of the cows mooed at me as I went by. And some of Namosi’s young people are serious competitors on their home turf,” the Munro Leys partner said.
“Most of the Suva Marathon events are on relatively flat ground. The Namosi hills make it much tougher going. It’s always a day my leg muscles remember.”
He added that events as such helped him stay fit.
“I’m a very ordinary runner, I won’t be breaking records any time soon. So as long as I can better my 2020 time I will call that a win!
“I’ve always tried to play some sport during my life to stay reasonably fit – but as we all become more aware of mental health challenges people face, I think physical activity is important to boost people’s mental wellbeing. After all, there’s enough going on in this country to drive anyone crazy.
“The Suva Marathon Club are a seriously organised bunch of people who consistently deliver great events. I enjoy just regularly meeting and having fun with a group of different people from those in other areas of my life.”
Naidu will be part of the more than 300 athletes who will take part at this year’s event.
There will be 15 participants in the full marathon of 42.2km. Sixty athletes have registered to take part in the half marathon of 21.1km while 250 will be taking part in the 10km run.
