LAUTOKA made it back to back victories when the side won the Fiji Indo East 7s tournament yesterday.
In July, the side won the tournament held in their home town and yesterday, the side thrashed Nakasi Highlanders 36-5 in the final at the USP grounds in Suva.
Team captain Rakesh Mudaliar said it was very hard to win back to back titles but with the hard work and the efforts of their players made it possible.
“Nakasi is a very hard team to beat because they are the most consistent team in the competition and they have played in every final,” he said.
“But we managed to play well in the final and our players gave their best effort on the field and we managed to defeat them.”
Lautoka beat Uni Babas 26-0 in one semi-final while Nakasi beat Nadi 19-12 in the other.
The Sugar City side won $300 for their win and Nakasi settled for $100.
Uni Babas beat Nadi 24-5 in the third/fourth play off to walk away with $50.
Fiji Indo Rugby Union acting chairman Alvin Nair said they would host their next tournament in the Western Division next month.
