THE Lautoka Volleyball Association commenced the off-season competition in Waiyavi yesterday.
As many as 11 teams turned up for the event. The association’s manager Masi Valentine said the off-season competition would run until the end of August.
Valentine said the numbers should increase next week.
“The clubs took a well-deserved break after the Easter Games,” he said.
“A total of 20 teams were expected for this opening round however only 11 turned up. I’m happy with the skill level of the players.
“At the Easter Games, our men’s team reached the second eliminations while the women’s team reached the semi-final.
“The off-season competition will be held weekly just to keep the players in form.”
The association will start its new season in September.
