THE Lautoka Golf Club is all geared up to host the Tesla Product-sponsored pre Lautoka open championship which will be held tomorrow.
Club vice captain Surend Pillay said top Lautoka golfers would use the tournament as a platform for the upcoming 83rd Sheerdar Motors Ford Open-sponsored 27-hole championship.
He said the much anticipated annual open championship would attract more than 100 golfers from around and the country and abroad.
He said the club would be also celebrating the 83rd anniversary of the tournament.
“The club is ready to host the most important event in our calendar on October 25. The club is anticipating over 100 golfers from around the country and overseas for this all important LGC open.
“Top guns include national reps and defending champion Abid Hussein of Nadi together with fellow national team mates Olaf Junior, Anuresh Chandra and Roneel Prakash,” said Pillay.
Past winners of this prestigious event include our very own and former world number one golfer Vijay Singh who won back to back titles in 1981-1982.
“Golfers are looking forward to the Lautoka open and they would use this weekend’s game to sharpen their skills,” said Pillay.
“We are expecting tough competition on Saturday.”
