THE Lautoka Golf Club will be a hive of activity over the Diwali long weekend with the staging of two important events, prior to the 85th Shreedhar Motors Ford Lautoka Open golf championship.
The Diwali Cup 18 holes individual stroke event has been generously sponsored by Anil’s Egg Distributors and will be played on Saturday.
Company director Anil Kumar who is also a prominent member of LGC and a snooker enthusiast, is geared up to be part of the event.
Golf has picked up momentum around the country and the promotion of Junior Golf will surely see the game going up another level.
Meanwhile, club president Chong Lee has chipped in with the sponsorship of the Chinese Palace Restaurant two men 18 holes Ambrose event on Monday. Lee said: “The Ambrose format has been very popular over the years with members from other clubs invited to participate.”
Over 700 dollars worth of prizes will be up for grabs with a number of special hidden tokens available for the non-winners.
Club chairman of trustees Raymond Singh has acknowledge both Kumar and Lee for making the Diwali weekend sponsorship a grand boost for golfers to contest two different formats of the game. Participants will have a chance to compete in a top class course whereby the fairways have been fully mowed and the greens at its best, he said.
