THE Lautoka football team is bracing for a tough battle against arch rival Ba in the Vodafone Premier League top of the table clash in Ba this weekend.
High from their 5-0 win over Nadi last week, the Sugar City boys will be out give the Men-in-Black a good run for their money.
Lautoka soccer coach Kamal Suwamy said the battle against Ba would be huge challenge for his players.
“Ba is a champion team and we are expecting a tough game,” he said.
“They are also on top of the points table and they will want to retain their spot on the top.
“But again we are also trying to do our best and to win our league games and being second on the points table.”
Experienced players such as Peni Finau, Joen Vono Jr, Ilaitia Tuilau, Zibraz Shahib and goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara are expected to spearhead Lautoka’s campaign.
The Blues will also bank on their new goal scoring machine in Mohammed Shazil Ali who scored three goals against Nadi.
Suwamy said Ali had gained a lot of confidence after being given more game time.
“He has improved a lot and he never fails to impress the coaches.
“He started his career for Lautoka on the reserve bench but later forced his way in the starting line-up in some of our recent games.”
