Lautoka plays host to two-day netball championship

MORE than 400 netters are gathering in Lautoka today to compete for the two-day Punjas Digicel National Championship scheduled at the Lautoka Multi-purpose court later this morning.

Boosted by the joint sponsorship of Punjas and Digicel, a total of 38 netball teams will compete for the top awards in the respective A, B and under 18 divisions.

A team from New Zealand, which consisted of Fijian netters, will also be part of the tournament.

Top guns Suva, Nasinu, New Zealand Fijians and Lautoka are expected to stamp their mark in the A division while Ba, Nadroga and Ra will eye for the top award in the B division.

Suva, Tailevu, Lautoka and Nasinu are the top four team to fight for the under 18 title.

The competition kicks off at 9am.
