Lautoka lawyer on conspiracy charge, on bail

LAUTOKA lawyer Iqbal Khan was released on bail by the Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday charged with one count of conspiracy to defeat justice and interference with witnesses.
Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde sanctioned charges against Mr Khan for attempting to pervert the course of justice and interference with witnesses.
Mr Khan appeared before Magistrate Rangajeeva Wimalasena.
It is alleged that between January 7 and January 22, 2015, Mr Khan attempted to pervert the course of justice by interfering with the evidence of witnesses for the State in a case pending before the Nadi Magistrates Court.
The State yesterday served Mr Khan with the disclosures before he was granted bail in the sum of $1000.
The matter has been adjourned to May 23 for Mr Khan to take his plea.
