The Lautoka Golf Club is keen to again make its WOWS Kids Fiji fundraising event successful this year as a Christmas gift to children suffering from cancer.

After raising $6000 in its establishment last year, club chairman of trustees Raymond Singh said helping children suffering from cancer, was an inspiration that boosted the morale and support towards the worthy cause.

Especially, from members of the club, whose course is a nine-hole challenging and scenic layout overlooking Lautoka City and the Yasawa Group.

“Despite the difficulties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, I am determined for another successful outcome,” Singh, a stalwart supporter of Fijian sports, said.

He has set a deadline to reach his target by early December.

“The chunk of our funds has been used on the greens and fairways maintenance after the lifting of sports restrictions. LGC neither receives any revenue from the bar and restaurants. I want to give WOWS Kids Fiji an early Christmas present of $6000 on December 11.

“To see our very young children suffering from cancer is painful. It is our moral responsibility to support sick kids and the organisation.

“Similar to 2020, I want to reach out to the parents of the children as well. LGC is just a small nine-hole layout, but our hearts are big enough to support a number of charitable organisations.

“The children will enjoy the ever popular golf cart rides along the golf links. The club is extremely proud to see WOWS Kids caring for our children with cancer. We also look forward to assistance from members of the public on this worthy cause. It is all about putting smiles on the faces of our sick kids so that they forget the pain and suffering they go through each day.”
