Former Lautoka City Council special administrator Jone Nakauvadra passed away earlier this week.

Mr Nakauvadra was CEO of Lautoka City Council (LCC) from 2011 to 2020.

Remembering the former CEO, former Minister for Local Government and LCC special administrator Parveen Kumar said he was deeply saddened by the passing of his friend.

“I have lost a valued friend,” Mr Kumar said.

“I had the privilege of knowing him while I was the city administrator and later as his line Minister.

“Jone contributed a lot to the development of Lautoka City during his time as the CEO.

“His warm personality won him friends amongst the ratepayers and business community.

“My deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones.”

Fiji Local Government Association president Rohit Karan also paid tribute to Mr Nakauvadra.

“The FLGOA family mourns the sudden demise of our former CEO,” Mr Karan said.

“No doubt he valued workers in municipal council as human capital and always upheld and protected workers’ rights.

“Mr Nakauvadra during his term negotiated and gave best terms and conditions of employment for Lautoka members in the form of the Collective Agreement which will be cherished forever.

“He crossed boundaries and offered helping hands to many.

“No one ever left his office unsatisfied as he found some solutions to others’ problems.

“He was a man with many attributes and will definitely be missed by those who came near to him.

“A true gentleman who delivered his best.”
