ONCE development on any land begins, it is important for owners of the landowning unit and those living on the land to be informed of what is happening on their land.

This was highlighted by Acting Chief Environment Officer Sereima Koli from the Mineral and Resource department during the Fiji Land Bank landowners trustees workshop today.

She said under their department, the environment division ensured the land the mining was carried out on was done in a sustainable manner.

“We ensure that rehabilitation of the land takes place when the mining or any developments has concluded, which is why we have put out targets to ensure that the land being developed is returned to its natural state,” Ms Koli said.
