SEVENTEEN landowners from the Central, Eastern and Western divisions under the Fiji Land Bank trustees received their biodata profiles handbook for designated land leases yesterday.
Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources permanent secretary Josefa Caniogo said this would enhance transparency and encourage landowners’ participation.
“This is a shared information on all processes or procedures undertaken when customary land parcels are designated,” Mr Caniogo said.
He said a consistent assessment of property market reports were executed on a monthly basis to ensure expression of interests from investors and landowners’ queries were sufficiently addressed when received on a tentative basis.
“One main priority now is to ensure that land use administration is enhanced through land bank investment and the development of iTaukei land,” he said.
He said the land use division’s role was limited to the administration of customary land for the benefit of the landowner, a view that was legislated and now formed the backbone of the division’s operations.
“It is, therefore, imperative that the ministry takes on an enhanced role and approach in providing advice to its landowners with regards to the management of their resources,” he said.
