THE selection door remains open for the Fiji under-17 football team for the next year’s Oceania U17 play-offs.
Coach Shalendra Lal said they wanted to see more players so they could take the best available players.
“We will still be scouting players and we’ll be going around to see more players so we can bring them over in the squad,” he said.
“This squad was selected last year and now we have an opportunity to select more players this year.
“We want to take the best team for the Oceania playoffs and there would be more trials held.”
The squad is camping at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa and more players who are able to impress the national selectors could force their way into the squad.
“We are having OFC under-17 playoffs before we used to have a short period of preparation time but now we have lot of time on our side,”
“The players will be representing the country in January next year.
“We have got some very good talented players in the camp. These players have come from Rakiraki, Nadroga, Labasa and other parts of the country.
“We have got under-17 league in the pipeline for these players. They might be representing their district team at the same time they would also be part of under-17.” he added.
