A MAN charged with several criminal offences will take his plea on March 5.

Savanaia Baleinadi informed the High Court in Suva that he was a labourer for the Survivor Series in Kadavu.

Mr Baleinadi, 37, is charged with three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, five counts of rape and a count each of damaging property, criminal intimidation and robbery.

It is alleged that he dragged a 57-year-old woman into a bush and raped her between January 7 and 17, 2019, in Nasinu.

It is also alleged that he robbed the woman of cash and assorted item all to the total value of $315.

Mr Baleinadi informed the court that he did not allegedly rape the victim but admitted to only robbing her.

He further alleged that he only said yes to the offence of rape because of the alleged torture he received in the station.

State lawyer Meli Vosawale has sought 21 days to file information and disclosures.
