JOSEPH Kwadjo wants a rematch with New Zealand-based Nikolas Charalampous after losing to him in the Duco Boxing Promotion at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, New Zealand on the weekend.
He was supposed to fight Robert “The Butcher” Berridge however Berridge pulled out because of an injury and he was replaced by Charalampous in the supporting bout.
The light-heavy weight slugger lost on points however Team Kwadjo believes the result should have been in their favour.
Kwadjo’s manager Sudesh Kumar said a rematch of the fight was highly likely.
“It was a good fight for us,” he said.
“However, everyone is telling us that Kwadjo should have won.
“Weight was also a major difference between the two boxers. He weighed in at 84 kilograms while Kwadjo was 79kg —— a difference of five kg.”
Kumar said Kwadjo had improved.
“We do not want to complain but we are looking forward for a rematch. Even Nikolas admitted to Kwadjo that he was better,” he added.
“Kwadjo took him down in the second round and it was the first time for him to get down.”
Meanwhile, Team Kwadjo will now be looking for other overseas fights later this year.
