I NEVER said the prime minister’s travelling allowance was $3000 a day, Dr Reddy did.

This was the word from Opposition spokesman on agriculture Inosi Kuridrani to Speaker of the House Ratu Epeli Nailatikau during Parliament proceedings yesterday.

He said during the November 2019 sitting, Dr Reddy said he (Mr Kuridrani) had told the House that the PM received $3000 in daily travel allowance.

Mr Kuridrani said the November 18 Hansard clearly recorded that when he said there was only a very small percentage of people in Fiji who could afford to live in luxury, and that this percentage included “Government ministers who enjoy huge pay cheques to make public appearance all over Fiji and around the world” he did not mention $3000.

Ratu Epeli instructed Mr Kuridrani to take his seat and refrain from making personal comments while responding to a specific issue.

Parliament was discussing the agriculture census update when Mr Kuridrani raised the issue.
