Kaiviti Silktails youngest squad member Timoci Kotoisuva is hoping to stamp his mark in the Ron Massey Cup competition after an impressive debut against the Bulldogs last weekend, scoring two tries.

According to Kotoisuva, 18, he was playing for Laselase Cowboys in the local competition when Silktails head coach Wes Naiqama spotted him.

The former Sigatoka Methodist College student also trained with the Silktails during their pre-season last year.

“I am very excited to be part of the Silktails set-up,” Kotoisuva said.

He said it was a proud moment for him to play in front of his families last Saturday at Churchill Park.

“I will again put up my hands to make the starting 14 this weekend and as a team we will just try to do our best and get the full four points.”

Naiqama said they identified Kotoisuva 12 months ago and they had contracted him this year as a development player.

“His opportunity came through an injury in the squad and he grabbed it with both hands and I am happy for him, getting two tries and playing some good footy.”
