TEACHERS need to be counselled on methods they could take in order to discipline school children before the ban on corporal punishment was introduced.

This was raised made by youth president and candidate of the Social Democratic Liberal party, Jope Koroisavou during a talanoa session held at the Kinoya Methodist Church Hall last night.

He said teachers should’ve been trained and counselled on what methods they could use to discipline children instead of using corporal punishment.

He claimed that since there were not enough consultation some teachers still resorted to corporal punishment to discipline students.
