TEVITA Koroi will make his debut for Suva in the Galaxy Premier League match this weekend.
The former national under-20 goalkeeper will feature against Nadi at Prince Charles Park tomorrow at 3pm.
Koroi, who started his career with Ba before moving to Navua, was the Whites’ third choice goalkeeper at the 2014 Courts Inter District Championship.
Suva coach Gurjit Singh said injury to Ulaiasi Tamanisau made way for Koroi.
He said it was also an opportunity for the rookie to seal his place in the team for the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League.
“We got few of our players still injured. Striker Inia Boko is still nursing knee injury, goalkeeper Ulaiasi Tamanisau has groin problem and Noa Vukica is also injured,” Singh said.
“These players won’t feature for Suva this weekend.”
Suva, which is the defending champions of the national league, made a losing start to its 2015 campaign after going down twice to Ba in the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series.
Singh said getting back to a winning form was vital for the side.
“We need to start winning. Losing matches demotivates players and we have to get back to winning ways,” he said.
“Prince Charles Park is a tough ground for us. It’s hard and we will face a tough challenge adjusting to the condition.”
Singh said the inclusion of Vodafone Fiji U20 reps such as Nickel Chand, Jale Dreloa, Kolinio Sivoki and Antonio Tuivuna would add depth to the side.
In the other matches this weekend, Labasa will host Lautoka at 1pm today while Nadroga will host Tailevu Naitasiri and Rewa will host Ba at 3pm tomorrow.
Nadi leads the Galaxy Premier League after the 6-1 win over newcomers Tailevu Naitasiri last week.
