Korean Government US$200k assurance for education

The new Korean Ambassador Park Young – Kyu recently paid a courtesy call to the Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar.

During the meeting, Ms Akbar and Ms Young discussed the way forward and enhancing mutual cooperation in particular the education sector.

Mr Park assured Ms Akbar of the Korean Government’s plan to provide grant assistance of USD 200,000 this year for improving the education environment of schools in Fiji.

Mr Park said “I am very delighted to be in Fiji when our two countries will celebrate their 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. I look forward to building on the friendly and cooperative relations between Fiji and Korea.”

“On behalf of the Fijian Government, I must thank the Korean Government for this kind gesture. This will surely boost the diplomatic relationship that we already have” said Hon. Akbar.

The Ministry and the Korean Embassy will discuss the best possible way to utilise the funds so that schools are assisted with the relevant resources.
