FIJI 7s captain Osea Kolinisau has been selected by World Rugby to be part of the World Rugby Conference and Exhibition 2016 (ConFex) next month.
Speaking to this newspaper Kolinisau said to be selected as part of the panel was something he never expected but a great opportunity to talk about how the abbreviated code had grown.
The ConfEx 2016 will get underway at the Hilton London Metropole on November 14-15, and the line-up for its ‘Rugby sevens beyond Rio —— the golden opportunity’ panel includes Kolinisau, World Rugby head of competitions and performance Mark Egan; USA men’s 7s coach Mike Friday and Giles Morgan, the HSBC global head of sponsorship and events.
“I think it’s a great opportunity. I’m privileged and honoured to sit with the panel and comment about Rio and its impact and the win from the Olympics. It is really humbling,” Kolinisau said.
Meanwhile, as Fiji continues to anticipate the naming of a new coach, former Springboks 7s coach Paul Treu shouldn’t be expected as a replacement to Ben Ryan.
Treu said “It would be an honour to coach the best 7s team in the world, but I am enjoying the challenge of 15s.”
Treu is currently with the Western Province team and the Stormers.
However, there are two people that could be in Fiji Rugby’s radar, former England player and still the all-time top points scorer in the Rugby 7s World series Ben Gollings and someone who worked closely with Ryan when he joined Fiji, NZ man Jeremy Manning.
