THE Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has advised members of the travelling public that the Kings Road at Naqia will be reduced to a single lane from Wednesday, July 24, to Wednesday, July 31, between 7am and 6pm daily.

The authority says this will allow for rock scaling works to be carried out.

FRA chief executive officer Jonathan Moore said as a consequence, there would be intermittent road closures and travellers were advised to expect about 15-20 minutes delay.

He said Naqia had been prone to frequent rockfalls during heavy rain, making it dangerous for travellers along the area.

“This activity is aimed at enhancing safety for the public and help prevent damage to the road and the passing vehicles caused by falling rocks,” Mr Moore said.

He said a full traffic management would be present on site to guide motorists safely through the site.

He advised motorists to strictly adhere to the traffic management signage in place to ensure the safety of other motorists and workmen alike.

Members of the public with further queries are advised to contact the FRA on the mobile shortcode 5720.
