The Flow Valves/ Island Accommodation sponsored Suva football side spent the past 24 years gunning for the Battle of the Giants title but were unsuccessful.
The last time the Capital City won the BOG was in 1995 when they defeated Navua 2-1.
However their focus and preparation this season resulted in their progressive performances at the pool games in the BOG last weekend and injecting a ray of hope to the Suva fans that 2020 could be their year.
Coach Babs Khan said he was confident with his squad to make history after two decades.
“We have a very good squad with a lot of depth and options to choose from,” he said.
“I have fielded most of the players in the pool matches and will decide on my best 11 later in the week. I want to give all players to prove their worth in training before selecting the final team for the semi-finals,” said Khan.
After their 1-0 win over Ba which saw them qualify for the semis, Khan said they really lifted their game and played with more urgency.
“We had to beat Ba at any cost to qualify for the semi-finals. I am happy that we managed to achieve that but the real hard work will begin now.
“We will have some video to mentally prepare the boys for the challenge.”
