Kenya coach Simiyu reinstated

AFTER being sacked by the union last Thursday evening, coach Innocent Simiyu has been reinstated to lead the Kenya 7s again.
HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series giant killer, Kenya, won the 2016 Singapore 7s and semi-finalist at the 2009 and 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens.
The reason behind his sacking was because of the fiasco in Paris that saw players mask out the ‘Make it Kenya’ logo from their shirts in protest over lack of payment by the union, a report from capitalfm.co.ke stated.
Simiyu, a former Kenya 7s player himself, took responsibility of the team’s action.
After mediation talks between the Kenya Rugby Union board of directors and sports cabinet secretary Rashid Echesa on Monday evening, Simiyu has been reinstated.
“We resolved Innocent Simiyu to be reinstated as the head coach of the Shujaa national team. In future, the federation to be consulting with the ministry before such key and serious decisions are made,” the report said.
