Kauvesi wants to keep momentum

VODAFONE Fiji 7s team wants to continue from where their former coach Ben Ryan had left off after helping the side win the Olympic Games gold medal.

The national 7s squad marched into camp yesterday to prepare for the Oceania 7s and the first leg of the 2016/2017 HSBC World Sevens Series.

Manager Ropate Kauvesi said they would like to keep the momentum going from where Ryan had left.

“We will continue to do the same thing that we have been doing for the past three years,” he added.

“We will see what happens when the new coach comes in but we will keep the same pathway.

The squad had six Olympian who are back with the team training includes captain Osea Kolinisau, Jasa Veremalua, Jerry Tuwai, Apisai Domolailai, Kitione Taliga and Samisoni Viriviri who is believed to have been in Fiji.

Team’s strength and conditioning training Nacanieli Cawanibuka and Kauvesi is expected to take the team to the first leg on the series.

Lanky Jasa Veremalua, Jerry Tuwai, Emosi Mulevoro, Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Apisai Domolailai were all playing in the Central Coast 7s.

“It is our first camp right now,” he said.

“It is back to the basics now with all the new players coming in the team. There would be nothing fancy in the training.

“We are also waiting for the players to be back from Australia so we will work with what we have at the moment.”

The Oceania 7s will be held in Fiji from November 10-11.
