Chartered accountant Manoa Kamikamica has been appointed as deputy leader of The People’s Alliance party.

The announcement was made by party leader Sitiveni Rabuka during a dinner attended by more than 150 supporters in Nadi last night.

“Manoa’s election as my deputy recognises his central role in being one of the party’s key architects,” he said.

“His calm steadfast character has helped bring stability during the uncertainty surrounding this party’s birth.

“With his appointment as deputy party leader, Manoa will now help me and our party headquarters finalise our list of candidates.

“He will also oversee the release of the party manifesto in the lead-up to the general elections.”

Mr Kamikamica said there was much work to be done. “The appointment humbles me as it reaffirms this new journey of serving our people and our beloved country,” the 55-year-old said.

“There is so much work to do. Like my party leader, I am deeply committed and ready to work hard to bring about the change Fiji desperately needs.

“The type of change that will ensure a better future for our next generation.”

Mr Kamikamica was the former chief financial officer and general manager of Lyndhurst Group of Companies.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting and information systems from the University of New South Wales in Australia.

As a chartered accountant and company executive, his professional career has seen him take up executive roles with leading companies in Fiji and the Pacific region over the past 32 years.

These included Price Waterhouse in Suva and Sydney, Air Pacific Ltd in Nadi, Australia New Zealand Bank in Papua New Guinea and Tonga, and the Lyndhurst Group in the Kalabu Tax-Free Zone in Nasinu.
