JOHN Wesley Primary School had its inter-class athletics competition yesterday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva. Despite the wet weather students and family members turned out in numbers as students competed in different events from the 50-metre run to long jump.

“John Wesley Primary School has been away from athletics for a long time and after a lapse of two years we are now bringing the children back into athletics,” said meet manager Pauliasi Koroi.

John Wesley Primary Schools has always fielded strong teams in Kaji rugby as well as primary schools netball.

“We had the inter-classes today not an inter-house and it’s like a beginner’s course all over again for the children who are comfortable playing rugby and netball.

“We have identified some probable athletes and will now prepare them for the zone. Next year we aim to have the inter-house in term one so our children will be able to start their athletics year proper”.
