JUST imagine if the Fiji 7s team makes it four in a row at the Hong Kong Sevens tournament as a prelude to win the 2017- 2018 HSBC World Sevens alongside the Commonwealth Games and the World Cup in July.
On the other hand the Vodafone Fiji soccer team has set out a game plan to counter the Philippines national team.
The team is known as the Bula Boys, as hopefully they greet their opponents with a Bula smile on the field.
Personally for me it will take donkey’s years to compare the success of our soccer teams with rugby be it at club, district or national level.
Rugby 7s demand and popularity has put our country on top of the world and has greatly beautified our tourism industry.
As for soccer, despite the many new programs and initiatives or even getting the best of coaches from abroad, I believe the sport will remain stagnant.
The National Premier League is such as or on-off toggle switch with no consistent dates for scheduled matches.
On a brighter note, I am looking forward to watch the Fiji International Golf Championship presented by Fiji Airways from August 2-5 at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.
Former World No.1 Vijay Singh has first won a tournament after 10 years in the US and maybe a good omen for him to win his inaugural Fiji International title.
