July plea date set for Chinese national on murder charge

A CHINESE national accused of murder will take his plea on July 8 this year.

Wang Qi Yong appeared before High Court judge Justice Daniel Goundar today charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged Mr Yong caused the death of a 33-year-old woman on May 13, 2018, at the victim’s home at Namadi Heights in Suva.

The body of the victim was later found in her room by her flatmate.

The court heard that the deceased was a foreign national.

Justice Goundar gave the State 28 days to file information and disclosures.

He has further remanded the accused.
