THE Joint Venture model between landowners and the Fiji Sugar Corporation will also ensure that landowners get some experience with cane farming.

FSC chief executive officer Graham Clark said landowners could acquire themselves skills that would help them operate or manage cane farms.

Mr Clark said FSC would manage the operational aspects of the farm and the mataqali units can usually provide the labour at a charge out rate.

“It is important that members of the mataqali also get necessary on-job training on cane farming and these acquired skills will assist them should they decide to operate and manage sugar farms in near future.”

This model requires the landowners to allow FSC to work with them on mataqali owned land.
