MILITARY personnel from the HMAS Adelaide, HMAS Melbourne and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) carried out a few community outreach activities and as well a training on Mosquito Island today.

The activities involved a joint mangrove planting exercise along Queen Elizabeth Drive, refurbishment works at the Walk On Walk Strong (WOWS) Kids Fiji Resource Centre in Suva, and an amphibious exercise on Mosquito Island.

Exercise indo-pacific endeavor 2018 task group commander Captain Jim Hutton said the exercise was about joining the capabilities of both the navy and military.

“This exercise will allow us to come and pick personnel of the RFMF during times of disaster relief responses and also to make sure they are ready and used to the processes in place,” Captain Hutton said.

The two vessels will depart today at 4pm and their next stop would be in Tonga before they head off to Hawaii to participate in the Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2018.
