BOXERS from the Jittu Boxing Club are ready to fight their way into the Fiji team at the Amateur Boxing competition that will be held today at the Police Special Response Unit compound in Nasinu.

“It has been a while but we are back now and my boys are ready to stamp their mark,” said Jittu Boxing club owner Marika Yalimaiwai.

Ten boxers from the three-time amateur boxing champion club will join many amateur boxers from around Fiji today as the hunt begins to fill the last remaining spots available for the Fiji boxing team that will head to the 2019 Pacific Games.

“Many of my boxers are school leavers and looking to make themselves a better future in boxing.

“My boys fight in a dirt square with a makeshift boxing bag and mirror to shadow box with.

“But this won’t stop us putting in the best possible performance we can, and when the day is down, hopefully, some more of my boys will have made it, and will represent Fiji.”
