Jikoiono to showcase his all-male collection at fashion show

MY garments are not for those who play it safe, but rather for those willing to take a risk to truly explore and express who they are through urban high fashion.

Fijian fashion designer, Ilai Jikoiono made the comment saying his clothes are bold and daring which represents the power of the person wearing them.

He will for the first time be showcasing his all-male collection at Style Fiji Fashion annual show 2018 in Nadi next month

His collection is called Zuber which means strong or powerful and he says that he defines his aesthetic as sitting at the cross section of fantasy and urban reality and at times forcing the two together.

The former International School Suva student undertook a Visual Arts Programme from Year 7 to Year 12 and was awarded numerous awards for his contribution to the schools cultural life including the prestigious Matiniciva Award.

He has also represented Fiji for an art project titled Pieces for Peace in New York which was an initiative to start dialogue around the issue of domestic and international peace through art.

Mr Jikoiono eventually became the Creative Director of Mai Life Style Magazine which was Fiji and the Pacific’s first luxury fashion and lifestyle publication.

Some of his notable achievements are:

· Winning Emerging Designer of the Year 2015 and Rising Star 2017 at Fiji Fashion Week.

· Dressing Tongan Royal, Frederica Tuita Filipe, as Chief Guest to Disney’s Moana Premiere in Hollywood.

· Chosen by ANZ Fiji to feature ZUBER’s prints on their Fashion ATM initiative with the Fashion Council of Fiji.
