“NADI Football Association has filed a protest against Lautoka Football Association,” confirmed Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf.

The protest was lodged within the specified timeframe which is 72 hours after the match.

Nadi Football Association is claiming that two Lautoka players were not properly cleared by the Fiji Football Association and they took part in the match against Nadi last week at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The two Lautoka players were suspended by the governing body for allegedly using illicit substances.

The board of control for the Fiji FA will make a decision based on all the facts pertaining to the protest and the alleged claims.

“It is just a normal protest and the protest fees were paid on time.

“The protest was lodged on time and we had to accept it and it will be forwarded to the board for a final determination,” said Yusuf.

The protest fees are $300. It is expected the BOC will make a decision when it meets in early March as stated by Yusuf.

Lautoka walloped a lethargic Nadi 6-0 in the feature match of the Vodafone Premier League round two matches at Churchill Park in Lautoka last week Sunday.

Lautoka leads the 2020 Vodafone Premier League points table with 6 points and have amassed a massive 12 goals in its 2 matches.

Lautoka is currently in Vanuatu for its Group B matches of the 2020 Oceania Football Confederation Champions League since Vanuatu was selected as the host country and will play their matches from February 15-21.
