VANUA LEVU boxer Tevita Jese is fast stamping his mark in the local scene having won two of his fights this year.
The 31-year-old defeated Iosefo Cakaunivalu in his first fight in September and later knocked out Abhay Annand Chand in the first round of the Kiran Boxing Promotion last weekend.
Jese said he wanted to continue the legacy left behind by his loved ones and former boxers Jare Lalakai and Atama Raqili.
He said the knock-out win over Chand last weekend had inspired him to train hard in his quest to win a title in Fiji.
“Even though my opponent was 5kg heavier, it didn’t deter me from fulfilling my goal,” said Jese.
“Boxing is in my blood and this win has motivated me to follow the footsteps of my boxing greats Raqili and Lalakai.
“Most importantly I want to create my own legacy and I will do all it takes to win a title.’
Jese said he wanted to showcase his talents to boxing fans in the North during the Canada Fiji Southern Boxinbg Promotion.
“I want to challenge Tomu Gaunavou in the Labasa program and I want to display my talent to my fans.”
“I know it will be a tough fight but I am ready for the battle.”
He thanked his fans for their support and dedicated his latest win to his newborn Ambrose in Labasa.
