Jack Costello Vula hopes to make it to the Fijian Drua squad for the Super Rugby Pacific next year.

The Gau, Lomaiviti lad was part of the Clifton Rugby Club in New Zealand and is stuck here because of the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted to a worldwide lockdown.

Vula has maternal links to Qelemumu in Labasa.

He attended the Lelean Rugby Academy in his teenage years and joined the Tailevu Rugby team for the Skipper Cup in 2014-2015.

He then joined Nadroga in 2016 that won the Skipper Cup completion and later on moved to New Zealand in the 2018-2019 seasons until he returned home before the lockdown.

“I have been training for the past months and I know that I am capable to be part of the Drua team because I have experienced playing rugby at local and international level,” he said.

“But overall I want to represent my country.”

While in New Zealand, he appeared alongside his uncle Saimone Sauliga in the media for helping a neighbour whose house was on fire.

Vula who resides in Labasa hopes the officials will give him a chance to showcase his talents.

He is grateful to his overseas club for always helping him while on lockdown in Fiji.
