Israel aid for Fiji

A GROUP of medical experts from Israel has been in the country for the past 10 days to provide medical assistance.

The project is part of Israel’s international development, co-operation and aid to the Pacific.

This is Israel’s second aid to Fiji this year.

The group from Israel will be here to provide specialised ear, nose and throat (ENT) services to patients at CWM Hospital.

“We’ve saved a couple of lives; we’ve also had a patient from Kiribati that was brought to us,” said Dr Eduard Pudel.

“We have seen patients from babies to elderly. We’ve operated on a one-year-old and a 70-year-old, altogether we have treated 22 cases, two major cases during the 10 days,” Dr Pudel said.

Dr Mark Fajgman described the ten days as busy.

He said they were grateful to the staff of CWM Hospital for their assistance.

“We do more extensive surgery while here. With cases we’ve been doing its very similar to the ones we do back home, the operation we do here is pretty much what we do there,” Dr Fajgman said.

He said despite the different cases they come across they always tried to give and provide the best services.

“We are excited to be here and help these people and at the same time try our very best to assist them in any way we could.”
