Update: 3:40PM THE Salia Women’s group on the island of Kioa are anticipating a much bigger house to be built for accommodating visitors that arrive to their island.
The group of 80 women shared their achievements and challenges after TC Winston.
Salia Womens group leader Susan Falu said that having an accommodation on the island to cater for visitors was one way they could earn money and assist the village during any traditional gathering.
“Our island receives a lot of cruise ship that reaches our shores and sometimes few visitors would stop by to experience the island life and that is where our accommodation comes in handy,” she said.
“We currently accommodate four people only since we have four beds and we are planning on extending the building and bring in more beds so more people can be accommodated.”
The accommodation costs $30 a person.
