THE prolonged dry spell affecting the country has dried six of the 14 water sources in the Northern Division.

Confirming this, Water Authority of Fiji’s general manager Customer Services Sekove Uluinayau said other water sources in the division were also at a critical level.

Mr Uluinayau said for the month of August alone, the authority had carted 14.5 million litres of water in the Northern Division.

People in the three villages of Mali, off the coast of Malau in Macuata and Cikobia in the northernmost tip of Vanua Levu are among the many communities that are feeling the pinch of the prolonged dry spell.
