An investigation is underway by the Internal Affairs Investigations Unit of the Fiji Police Force into a social media post claiming the alleged involvement of police officers in an alleged case of police assault in the Eastern Division.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has directed the Internal Affairs Investigations Unit to investigate the claims made and anyone with information that could assist with investigations is requested to call the Internal Affairs Office on 9905 627.

“Members of the public can also send us private messages on our Facebook page as we are trying to locate the individual (s) who posted the information,” Ms Naisoro said.

“Meanwhile the investigation into the death of the man alleged to be involved in an aggravated robbery case in Nadi is now being handled by a team from the Criminal Investigations Department in Suva,” she said.

“We will comment further once the investigations are completed in both cases.”
