Munro Leys Namosi Marathon race director Marita Manley says interest shown from corporations and individuals has been tremendous.

The Munro Leys Namosi Marathon will be on Saturday, July 2 where there will be a full marathon which is 42.2 kilometres, a half marathon which is 21.1 kilometres and a 10 kilometre run for corporate teams.

“We are hoping to field 300 runners this year and from the looks of things, there will be a decent amount of corporate teams,” said Manley.

“We have capped it at 300 to keep the runners safety in mind as there will be many people on the road.”

Manly said all funds raised would be donated to the Cure Kids Fiji in aid of children who have rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in the country.

“So we are asking corporate teams to try and raise a minimum of $1000 for Cure Kids. We do not have a particular fundraising target but we are asking teams to raise the minimum or go beyond to help kids who suffer from RHD.”

Manley acknowledged the support of various sponsors in making the event a reality.

“I would like to thank our major sponsor Munro Leys and all the other partners for providing support in different ways and most importantly the people of Namosi for agreeing to host us for the event.”
