Inspiring small businesses to succeed

THIS year’s Prime Minister’s International Business Awards was successful thanks to organisers and sponsors.

BlueScope Lysaght (Fiji) Ltd and BlueScope’s general manager Chris McLoughlin said this year was their first time to sponsor the annual event where they sponsored the Best Small Business Operating Internationally won by Cacoa Fiji Limited also known as Adi Chocolate.

He said there were no challenges faced because of the good work of Investment Fiji.

“We found the event incredibly well organised and well run. We will be happy to be part of it again,” Mr McLoughlin said.

BlueScope has been operating since 1968, their manufactured products are all ISO 9002 certified and extensively tested for the cyclonic conditions in Fiji and the South Pacific.

At BlueScope Pacific, they pride themselves as a good corporate citizen and actively seek opportunities to share their successes with the communities where they operate.

Recognising and empowering small business is aligned with their corporate value that “our communities are our homes” which demands that they respect, encourage, and involve local business in their growth agenda.

Through their sponsorship, they hope to inspire small business that Fijians have the ability to do business beyond borders and make the economy stronger. They supply a full range of accessories including insulation, ventilators and translucent sheeting, and also supply pre-engineered buildings.

They export their products to South Pacific countries such as Tonga, Samoa, American Samoa, New Caledonia, Tahiti, Wallis and Futuna, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu and Marshall Islands.

According to Investment Fiji website the annual event is the premier event in Fiji that recognises and rewards the best in business.

The awards provide an opportunity for Fijian businesses to benchmark performance, build capability, inspire to innovate, demonstrate service excellence, support job creation, boost employee morale and showcase businesses achievement to clients and investors.

The 2017 Prime Minister’s International Business Awards feature 12 exciting categories that provide recognition to organisations from a wide range of sectors
