Injured whale at Saweni beach

AN injured whale surprised picnic goers at Saweni Beach in Lautoka this afternoon after it swam close to the shoreline.

Saweni residence Aaron Isaac said the whale looked young and was likely injured.

He said they had been trying to get the animal to swim back to deeper waters but it kept swimming back towards the beach.

Fisheries officials have been alerted about the young whale.
