Indian national Indeevar Nair originally from Kerala in South India, scooped the top award during the Jai Narayan College annual prize giving ceremony.

The Year 13 student was awarded the second dux trophy after school teachers announced two school duces for 2022.

Indeevar said he felt elated and on top of the world.

“This is not just a year’s worth of hard work, it’s about five years of hard work.

“I’m so happy to be here,” he said.

“A lot of people from this batch are fierce competitors and I’m actually honored to get this award today.

“Demira was a very fierce competitor, honestly I have to give it to her for helping me improve myself over the years.

“I struggled a lot during COVID-19. It did take a toll on my mental health.

“I had to stay home for one term in Year 12, but eventually once my confidence was back, I was able to pull through”.

The youngest of two siblings said anybody could achieve what he did if they had confidence in themselves.

Year 13 students of JNC graduated with more than 100 students receiving awards at the school hall.
