VANUATU has been told more information should be obtained before the Government goes ahead with plans for income tax.
The Government wants to introduce income and corporate tax, but an International Labour Organization wages specialist, Daniel Kostzer, said Vanuatu needed to conduct a more evidence-based analysis before this was done.
Mr Kostzer was speaking at a public lecture on the implication of the tax plans in Port Vila and said a household survey to get information about domestic spending patterns was vital.
