THE inaugural 2019 West Coast Junior Tennis Circuit which was held under the GV Sports Development banner at the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay courts last weekend proved to be a success.

A total of 41 players entered the two-day event playing 35 matches.

GV Sports Development director Graham Venkataya said players formed two teams Nadi and Lautoka.

He said matches were played in the singles and doubles disciplines.

“The categories included under-10, U12 and U14,” Venkataya said.

“Both teams played to a draw at the end showing the close intensity in the competition. Krishneel Kumar who runs the academy in Nadi is using this circuit to enhance the skills of the junior players as part of a development program to get them prepared for international tournaments.

“The parents of the participants were excited to travel to Momi as a getaway from their normal environment.

“This circuit gives the families a chance to visit and enjoy the different resorts with different venues for the remaining three events.”

The finals are scheduled to be held at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club courts in Nadi.
