Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is depending on God’s strength to take him through this COVID-19 pandemic and not his own ability.

In a government statement, he pleaded with people to remain steadfast and not be discouraged.

“As a person of faith, I rely less on my ability but more on God’s strength to carry me through,” Mr Bainimarama said.

He then quoted stories from the Bible of how God saved the Israelites and he believed that through faith Fijians could be saved.

“I can recall some famous stories from the Bible that continue to be my beacon of hope.

“The hope that I want to share with you this morning.

“The hope in the midst of chaos, there is opportunity.”

Making reference to the Bible, he said when Moses and the Israelites were stuck between the invading army of Pharaoh and the Red Sea, he looked to the heavens and with God’s guidance, Israel was saved.

“Moses told them not to fear, but to stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord.”
