ONE hundred children from five schools around Cuvu district on Nadroga got the opportunity to spend some time and learn rugby techniques from rugby legends and members of the Classic Wallabies rugby team last week.

This program was organised by the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa which also raised $10,400 with A Night with the Classics Wallabies fundraiser at the resort last week.

The main objective of the community engagement with the students was to create an atmosphere that promotes good health and good sportsmanship and the importance of physical education.

The rugby clinics also coincided with community health checks for the community that were also carried out at Cuvu College.

The resort formed a partnership with the Classic Wallabies, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and the Fiji Kidney Research Centre as well as the many corporate entities who also donated in cash or kind for this very worthy cause.

The Classic Wallabies team was in the country last week to play against the Fiji Legends side which was a curtain raiser game before the Fiji Airways Drua played the Melbourne Rising.

The charity benefit and community engagement was carried out under the banner of the Shangri-La Embrace Care for People project.
